Celebrate Life,
Cherish the Memories

Why Us?

As the oldest continuously operated funeral home in Central Virginia, Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service has been supporting families in the area since 1870. The company is a Central Virginia leader of innovation by adopting new ideas into their funeral services. Instead of providing basic, cookie-cutter services for families, a personalized plan is designed for every funeral that is held.

Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is a green certified funeral home that provides a range of funeral and cremation services. Options include funerals, memorials, burials, life celebrations, pre-planning funeral services, urns, caskets, vaults, Veteran Services, Military Honors, grief resources, and more. The funeral home has a recently added Reception Room, with optional catering. The chapel has a seating capacity of more than 240 people.

This funeral home offers more than basic funeral services. The staff is proud to be a Life Celebration Funeral Home, with each service designed around the life of the deceased. Services are as unique as the individual, designed around the persons favorite colors, food, poems, music, hobbies, and more. High-end video technology is always available for the services, including webcasting for family and friends who are not able to attend. Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is the only funeral home in the area to provide video tributes at no charge for every family served.

Burial Services

Burial service options offer families a variety of ways to honor their loved ones. Traditional services typically include a visitation or wake, followed by a funeral ceremony at a place of worship or funeral home, and burial at a cemetery. These services can be personalized to reflect the unique life and personality of the deceased through music, readings, and cultural or religious rituals. Families have the flexibility to choose the elements that best suit their preferences and beliefs, ensuring a meaningful farewell for their loved one.

Cremation Services

Cremation service options provide families with diverse ways to honor their loved ones' memories. Following cremation, families can opt for a memorial service, which can be held at a place of worship, funeral home, or any meaningful location. This service can include tributes, music, readings, and rituals tailored to the preferences and beliefs of the deceased and their loved ones. Families may choose to scatter the ashes in a location significant to the deceased or keep them in an urn for display or interment. Additionally, some may opt for a direct cremation without a formal service. Cremation services offer flexibility and personalization, allowing families to create a meaningful farewell that celebrates the life of their loved one in a way that resonates with their values and traditions
